Christina Aguilera 'Fat Girl' Quotes Are Fake
It seems there has been a mix-up over where the remarks came from...
Earlier this week, Xtina apparently told Billboard that she was "tired of being a skinny, white girl", and that when recording her new LP Lotus, she told her bosses they were now "working with a fat girl."
The Your Body singer was quoted as saying: "During the promotion of my album Stripped, I got tired of being a skinny, white girl. I am Ecuadorian but people felt so safe passing me off as a skinny, blue-eyed white girl.
"[In 2002] I had gained about 15 pounds during promotion and during my Stripped tour. They called this serious emergency meeting about how there was a lot of backlash about my weight.
"I told them during this Lotus recording, 'You are working with a fat girl. Know it now and get over it. They need a reminder sometimes that I don't belong to them'. It's my body... My body is just not on the table that way anymore."
However, Christina's rep has since revealed that the 31-year old did not make those remarks, claiming: "The quotes are fake."
Billboard has since denied that the quotes came from Aguilera's interview in the 29th September issue, with USA Today and E! reporting that they came from a US Weekly article.
US Weekly have since pulled the story, saying that there was an "error about the source of the quotes".
Entertainment Weekly claim to have traced the original quotes to a Tumblr post, but it is unknown who posted the comments on the site.
