New Final Fantasy XIII Sequel Announced
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be standalone game...
A second sequel to Final Fantasy XIII has been announced by development studio Square Enix.
Called Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the game will be a standalone game rather than a continuation of Final Fantasy XIII-2 - and will apparently see the heroine Lightning given 13 days to save the world.
More details will be made public on Tuesday, but it is reported by Digital Spy that the game will be set on a chain of four islands called Navus Partus, which are connected by a monorail.
The title will feature a day-night cycle and social networking will be incorporated into the game through Facebook.
Players are promised more customisation of weapons and costumes - and there will be more freedom of movement during battles.
The game will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Work is also under way on Final Fantasy XIV.
